SOCIAL WORK
The social work department offers tours of Louis Brier, and provides information about long term care/complex care and criteria for admission. The social workers coordinate and assist with all aspects of admission and orientation.
Transition, bereavement and supportive counseling are offered at Louis Brier. Additionally, residents and families can obtain information about financial, governmental and other matters including referrals to community resources as required.
The social work department, in conjunction with the Care Services team is involved in Resident Care Conferences, Interdisciplinary Rounds, Family Information Evenings, Ethics Committee and Quality Council. The social work department has excellent working relationships with community organizations, including Jewish Family Service Agency, Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre, L’Chaim Adult Day Program, Vancouver Coastal Health, and others.
