AUXILIARY

The Auxiliary to the Louis Brier Home and Hospital is comprised of a group of volunteers who pay a membership fee and raise funds to provide residents with medical equipment for their comforts and needs. One very special project of the Auxiliary has been providing to all of our new Louis Brier residents a ‘Welcome Bag’. This thoughtful and important gift always brings a warm sense of welcome to all the people who move in to our Home. A resident on the Welcome Committee greets the new resident with this gift and it is always greatly appreciated (not to mention the Kleenex, and chocolate, so necessary!) Not only is the gift lovely, but the task of putting together all the items in each bag has become a program for residents to do on an afternoon that is very enjoyable and also a labor of love. The Auxiliary also hosts 2 annual fundraising Teas, in the spring and fall, as well as an ongoing “Tree of Life Project". If you are interested in joining the Auxiliary please call the Louis Brier Home and Hospital and ask for the Auxiliary Membership Chairperson.

GIFT SHOP

Approximately 25 years ago Edith Landau had a vision: to have a shop that would serve the residents at the Louis Brier Home. With the help of Miriam Matoff and two other women the project became a reality. Today we have twelve wonderful committed volunteers who staff the shop 6 days a week from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm. The Gift Shop carries a diverse selection of items, including an assortment of Judaica: mezzuzot, kipot, tallitot, and candlelabras. The shop also carries toiletries, handbags, tote bags, a beautiful assortment of scarves, magnetic necklaces and bracelets, as well as the basic necessities, chocolates, chips, drinks and ice cream (all strictly kosher).

All of the proceeds from sales at the Gift Shop are put back into the Home. New volunteers are warmly welcomed.
