VOLUNTEER
POSITIONS
There
are many Volunteer Opportunities. The Volunteer Services Coordinator works
together with the Social Work, Recreation, Rehabilitation and Nursing
departments to determine how to best serve the needs of our residents.
We then work with the volunteers to find the position that best suits
you. You can choose from a lengthy list of opportunities or be creative!
If you have a special talent, hobby or interest to share, we can provide
the space and participants. Whether it’s giving manicures, sharing
your computer skills, bringing your babies in for a visit, going for walks
with residents, we would love to hear from you. Among the many wonderful
activities our volunteers participate in are:
• Volunteer in the Rehabilitation Department, working with the Physiotherapists
and Occupational Therapists
• Assist Recreation
Department staff with programs including: baking, arts & crafts, lunch
club, music therapy programs, movie nights, bingo calling, birthday parties,
gardening and manicures.
• Assist Administration
staff with mail delivery, computer projects.
• Take residents
out for a walk, interview them about their life experiences
• Give musical
concerts, present slides shows of your travels, teach computer courses
• Accompany groups
of residents on our bus to concerts, lunches, shopping and scenic drives
• Play Scrabble,
Chess, Card Games, Bingo
• Practice speaking:
Yiddish, Russian, Hebrew, Spanish, and many more languages
• Help residents
unpack when they move in
• Participate
in special Jewish Holiday Celebrations

pets for a visit
