Dental Clinic Improvement Campaign
Campaign Chair, Dr. Marcy Schwartzman

The Dr. Irving and Phyliss Snider Campus for Jewish Seniors is very proud to be a part of the “Reaching Out, Geriatric Dentistry Program,” which establishes a partnership between the Faculty of Dentistry at UBC and our Home.

The dentists, dental students and dental hygienists, who come, work in our own dental office that was established by Alpha Omega, in memory of Dr. Shelley Wolochow-Halperny, after the tragic terrorist attack on bus 405 on the way to Jerusalem. They are able to provide our residents with full dental assessments, up-to-date methods in geriatric oral care, regular cleaning, and take the opportunity to educate the care staff and companions on helping with oral hygiene.

While we are very fortunate to have this space available, after many years, much of the equipment on our site has become obsolete or needs upgrading to meet current hygiene and safety standards. In addition, the Vancouver Coastal Health is not funding projects such as this in affiliated sites. As a result, we are experiencing more and more residents who require treatment transferring to the UBC Dental Clinic for their follow-up appointments.

Please consider helping to upgrade our clinic. The cost of the project will total $45,000 – $50,000.

Your donation can:

significantly benefit residents and family members through reduction of stress and risk, currently present in transfers

create positive health outcomes for treatment of existing issues in our field of dentistry

support accessibility for elderly to receive necessary care

support educational experiences for students in dentistry

All participating donors in this campaign will be listed and recognized on a plaque that will be placed outside our dental office. In addition, gifts of $1,800 or more will entitle you to an individual plaque on our Gallery of Donors Wall.
